Leadenhall Market is set to welcome two new eateries this September with the opening of Danish coffee project Hagen and Japanese soul food restaurant Rainbo.
Opening on 4th September, Danish hospitality will be served by Hagen, a Danish coffee concept born out of Copenhagen and brought to life in London. With a mission to deliver premium speciality coffee with a dash of old school class, in a sustainable way.
The following week Japanese street food purveyor Rainbo opens with gyoza, katsu, bao and other Japanese soul food favourites on the menu. Initially open Monday-Friday from 11 am-4 pm, Rainbo will later be launching an afternoon/early evening food and drink menu later this year.
Located in the centre of the City of London’s financial district, Leadenhall Market marked its 700th anniversary in 2021. Originally a meat, poultry, and game market, it is now home to a hospitable collection of restaurants, cafes, wine bars and The Lamb Tavern pub.
The site of Leadenhall Market is owned by the City of London Corporation, who were gifted it in 1411 by the former Lord Mayor Richard ‘Dick’ Whittington. Surviving changes in use, rebuilding and even the Great Fire, its current beautiful Victorian architecture with soaring archways, spectacular painted roof and cobbled streets was designed by Sir Horace Jones (who also designed Smithfield Market and Tower Bridge) and dates to 1881.
