Argentina’s favourite street food comes to London, by way of Paris, at Clasico Argentino. This new casual dining spot on Swallow Street, W1 is now open.
In partnership with the Gaucho Group, Clasico Argentino is the brainchild of two Argentinians; Enrique Zanoni, multi-faceted entrepreneur and traveler, and head chef Gaston Stivelmaher. The first location for Clasico Argentino is next door to Gaucho’s Piccadilly restaurant.
This is where the traditional empanada comes into its own; simple to prepare, simple to hold, and simple to eat. It is wonderfully social food, both fun and tasty.
There will be an enticing selection of 12 different fresh and homemade empanadas based on authentic recipes from Buenos Aires.
Enrique says that for many Argentinians, Europe is seen as ‘home’, and he’s excited to ‘bring back’ the best of his country’s street food: “Londoners love to embrace food from around the world. And whilst our empanadas are as authentic as they come, there’s a satisfying familiarity to our buttery pastries. They are filled with a choice of fresh, seasonal ingredients including tasty meat, cheese or vegetables or fish. We shape and crimp them, and bake until golden brown.”
As well as empanadas, Clasico Argentino will also be serving its own helados using traditional production methods and natural ingredients such as real vanilla, fruit purees and whole milk. Ice cream is eaten year-round in Argentina.
The Swallow Street location will have seating for 18 inside, 16 outside, and will offer take- away, and delivery through Deliveroo. It will be open from 8.00 am until 10 pm seven days a week.
There will also be a Clasico Argentino food truck based next to Gaucho in Broadgate, so that London’s City workers can enjoy this empanada experience too, and the food truck will be available for private hire and events across London.
