Dakota Hotels have unveiled their latest expansion plans, announcing the proposed addition of a Manchester Airport property to their portfolio.
Following the success of Dakota’s Manchester city centre property, the new Hotel will be located at the bustling Manchester Airport – forming part of the MIX MANCHESTER development – and has been designed by KPP Architects.
Following the consultation process within the local community, the planning application has been submitted to Manchester City Council. The Dakota group is being advised by Asteer Planning.

Known for outstanding service and stylish interiors, Dakota Hotels’ second Manchester property will be no exception. Guests at the 154-bedroom Dakota Manchester Airport Hotel will enjoy sophisticated accommodation, a destination Bar and brasserie-style Grill, as well as 130 onsite parking spaces and an airport terminal shuttle.

“With routes covering four continents of the world and increasing numbers of passengers and flights year on year, Manchester Airport is a fast-growing global gateway to the North. We are looking forward to being part of the journey for the 28 million travellers that come through their doors – bringing our unique brand of luxury hospitality to the Airport hotel market.”
Recently named as a Sunday Times Best Place to Work, Dakota is predicted to generate upwards of 150 jobs for the community across a variety of departments at their Manchester Airport site. The Airport hotel is additionally anticipated to bolster the local economy with an injection of circa £12 million per year.
The Dakota group have bold expansion plans, having recently announced the opening of Dakota Newcastle – their first property in the North East – in Spring 2025. Subject to planning consent, Dakota Manchester Airport hopes to open its doors within 2026.
