Five star chefs, four unique dinners, one stylish setting – Alyn Williams presents CHEFstock 2013.
Each Tuesday in September, National Chef of the Year Alyn Williams will be joined in the kitchen of his eponymous Michelin starred restaurant at The Westbury by one of four internationally renowned chefs, to create an extraordinary one-night-only dining experience.
From the UK’s home-grown talent, Simon Rogan and Sat Bains, to Bart de Pooter from Belgium and chef “AK” Akmal Anuar from Ignatius Chan’s exciting Iggy’s restaurant in Singapore, the never-before-seen collective promises rare London appearances from chefs boasting six Michelin stars, and countless national and international accolades between them.
Together, Alyn and his guest chef for each evening will create culinary magic, combining their individual talents to produce one unique tasting menu.
SAT BAINS, 3rd September (Two Michelin Stars)
Former Great British Menu winner Sat has always felt the lure of London but happily has his hands full in Nottingham, a city to which he brought the first Michelin star (followed by a second a few years later) with his eponymous Restaurant Sat Bains with Rooms. Sat’s cookbook ‘Too Many Chefs Only One Indian’ published last September has received critical acclaim and won ‘Best in the World – Cookbook Design’ at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards in Paris.
BART DE POOTER, 10th September (Two Michelin Stars)
Bart is Founder, Chef and Executive Director of the two Michelin star restaurant Pastorale in the small village of Reet near Antwerp, Belgium. Winning the esteemed title of ‘Gault Millau Chef of the Year 2012’, he is passionate about regional, seasonal and ecologically-sourced ingredients, inspired by his mother who always grew and harvested her own produce.
SIMON ROGAN, 17th September (Two Michelin Stars)
Already this year, Simon has received his second Michelin star for L’Enclume in Cartmel, opened The French at The Midland Hotel, Manchester and been shortlisted for ‘The Cateys 2013 Chef Award’. He is a champion of British ingredients, inventive cooking techniques, foraging, and the finest home-grown produce.
IGNATIUS CHAN, 24th September (No. 65 in World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2013)
Ignatius is not only a hugely respected restaurateur but also an award-winning sommelier. His restaurant, Iggy’s in Singapore opened in 2004 and has received countless accolades including ranking in the ‘S. Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants’ for the last seven years; and being crowned ‘Number One restaurant in Asia’ by the Miele Guide on three occasions.
Alyn Williams comments
“I’m very proud to be hosting such a spectacular line-up of chefs this September. I admire them all and it’s very humbling that they will be coming to cook with me in my kitchen. When it comes to the menus there are no rules, the guest chefs are in charge and each tasting menu will take its own shape with our different yet harmonious dishes. It’s going to be a hugely exciting month!”
Guests will arrive to a welcome reception of Pol Roger Vintage 2004 Champagne – the first time that this new vintage will be available to the public – and canapés created by both chefs, then take a seat in the chic rosewood-accented dining room and savour each of the crafted eight courses from the one-off collaborative tasting menu – four courses from each chef, with a few surprises along the way!
